    5 Things You Need to Know Before Working for Instacart

    You may wonder about the pros and cons of working for Instacart or how to work for Instacart. Here are the 5 things you need to know before working for Instacart.

    1. The Instacart Jobs Available

    The main jobs at Instacart are the full-service shopper and the in-store shopper. The full-service shopper collects the groceries from the store and delivers them to the customer.

    The in-store shopper works inside one store preparing orders for the full-service shoppers. If a store doesn’t have a shopper, the full-service shopper gets the items.

    Instacart also has jobs working directly for the corporation. These Instacart Jobs are a mixture of on-location jobs and remote jobs. With the growth of Instacart and its great reviews as a place to work, this could be an option.

    2. Who Is Working for Instacart?

    Everyone from college students to retired people are picking up some extra cash through Instacart.

    To work for Instacart, there are a few qualifications you must meet:

    • Be at least 18 years of age (21 if you want to deliver alcohol)
    • Be able to lift at least 30 pounds and as much as 50 pounds
    • Pass a background check
    • Have a smartphone with IOS 9 or later or Android 5.0 or later
    • Have a checking or savings account to be paid
    • Have a vehicle with insurance to be a full-service shopper
    • Have insulated bags or a cooler for cold deliveries

    3. How Instacart Pays

    A full-service Instacart grocery shopper is a contract employee. They are paid per delivery based on the size of the order and whether they have to shop for it or not. They can also make tips.

    In-store Instacart grocery shoppers are part-time employees of Instacart and are paid hourly based on their location. All Instacart shoppers are paid by direct deposit.

    4. Getting Hired by Instacart

    To become a shopper for Instacart, you start with the shopper app application. Once you fill out the application, you also permit them to do a background check on you.

    Once you pass the background check and are approved, fill out the tax forms and register the Instacart payment card you use to buy the groceries. If you are an in-store shopper, you will have an in-person orientation to go to.

    5. Benefits of Working for Instacart

    Shoppers have access to shopper injury protection insurance and options like the Stride benefit platform.

    In-store shoppers have access to sick pay and accruing benefits they can use as paid time off for sickness or injury.

    Shoppers get 14 extended paydays if they are quarantined due to Covid-19.
