Procedure of Mounting a Solar Water Heating System

Meta description: Installation of a water heater in our homes which depends on the natural sunlight, depends on various factors such as the homestead, the manufacturers, and the type of the heater. Are you looking for how to install a solar heater in your home? Below is how to install it.

These days, most people are up to saving what they earnan this is by reducing expenditures. One way of doing so is by installing water heaters that use direct sunlight instead of electricity. Installing these heaters is dependent on various factors which narrow down to the manufactures brand and the homestead specifically the rooftop. Below is the procedure for installing the solar heater.

Put solar collectors first

This is done on the rooftop. When installing the solar, make as few penetrations on the roof as possible. Depending on the manufacturer, the piping may go through roof while others may run through the vertical wall.  Hardware supplied by different manufacturers may have a slight difference. After mounting, use silicone sealant to seal the holes.

Mount water tank together with the heat exchange

Next to the conventional heater place the solar water tank. The heat exchanger may be internal or external to the storage water tank. In each case, it is mounted differently. Just make sure to go through the manual carefully. These heaters use both diffuse and direct solar radiation.

Mount the pump and the piping glycol loop

Installing unions to the pump is a better way because, in case of any replacement, there will be no need to do pipe cutting. At the lower part of glycol, insert the pump. It is a must to install a pressure gauge as it helps to monitor the pressure in the glycol loop and an expansion tank.

Mount water piping

Depending on the 300 litre solar water price, the heat exchanger may be external or internal to water storage. With the external heat exchanger, a natural convention may be used which goes in line with a large pipe for enough flow. Unions and valves are installed in the outlets and outlets of tanks.

Install controls

To sense the temperature difference between the water of storage tanks at the bottom, and glycol on top of solar collectors, a differential controller is installed. The higher the solar water heater price the higher the safety and the convenience of the system.

Filling the system

To check for any leaks of water, fill water in glycol loop. Drill pipe is considered when filling solar systems. Let the system stay for 8 hours. If there is a pressure drop, it shows that there is a leak somewhere. If there is no drop in pressure then it is okay.

Insulation of glycol loop and water

After checking for leaks in the system, now you can insulate the glycol loop and water. If the insulation is exposed to direct sunlight, use foil wrap to protect it.

Before installing a water solar system, a site survey is necessary to determine the best solar heater that fits well. The manual that comes along with the solar systems contains guidelines and the tools needed for installation.
