    National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is an apex institution that regulates the licensing and regulates all the regional rural banks of India. The candidates selected in NABARD are incredibly talented and efficient in their workings. NABARD Grade A 2021 exam was conducted in the month of September this year.

    The candidates selected as Grade A officers enjoy the most lucrative benefits in terms of monetary and family needs. In this article, let us look at the job profile, career growth, and how a role in NABARD as Grade A officer is better than other bank job profiles.

    NABARD GRADE-A Job Profile

    A Grade A officer is the first managerial job profile in NABARD, and the candidate is selected as an Assistant Manager by designation. Here are some salient features of the job profile:

    • The candidate is hired as an Assistant Manager, which is at the bottom of the hierarchy in Managerial level posts of NABARD.
    • The candidate must serve a probation period of two years and can be extended by one year at the discretion of NABARD.
    • NABARD Grade A posting location of the candidate can be anywhere in India, but most of the time the postings are in State Capitals only.
    • The candidate must work on various policies and programs mandated by Central or State governments related to Agricultural and Rural Development.
    • The candidates are provided with the task of financing and developing the agricultural sector.
    • The candidates help rural communities to form stable cooperatives and achieve self-reliance.

    NABARD GRADE-A Career Growth

    NABARD ensures employee satisfaction by providing timely increments in the salary and promotions to senior-level posts. These promotions bring more prestige and salary hike to employees and increase their morale towards NABARD.

    Let us take a look at the NABARD Career ladder. The employee gets promotions after appearing in the departmental exams and face-to-face interviews with the senior management.

    NABARD Officer and Commercial Bank Officer

    The NABARD Grade A officer and a Commercial Banking Officer have a different set of job responsibilities assigned to them. The candidates should look at the following points of distinction between the two similar-looking job profiles:

    A NABARD Officer is responsible for the following set of activities under the job roles and responsibilities assigned to the employee.

    1. Development of the Assigned District: A NABARD Officer is responsible for launching various government schemes related to agriculture in districts assigned. These Government of India schemes have to be implemented by the NABARD Officer.
    2. Synchronizing with other Banks: A NABARD Officer has to coordinate with other banks to disburse loans and waiver schemes launched by the Government.
    3. Direct Reporting to RBI: RBI requires direct reporting of the priority sector targets by the NABARD officer. The NABARD officer has been assigned the responsibility of the development of rural areas.
    4. Strategy to implement schemes: A NABARD Officer must make strategies for launching the government schemes and implementing them in the assigned district.

    A Commercial Bank officer is responsible for the following job roles and responsibilities:

    1. Day-to-Day Banking Operations: The commercial banking officer is required to ensure the smooth functioning of the branch’s receipts, payments, fixed deposits, and other banking activities.
    2. Credit Management: As a credit manager in a commercial bank, the employee will be required to disburse loan applications after verifying their identity documents and creditworthiness.
    3. Coordination with Management: A commercial banking officer needs to report any issue arising in daily business activities and seek management suggestions to solve the same.
    4. Administrative tasks: A commercial banking officer is required to take additional responsibilities for the administration of the branch. The officer also needs to take care of compliance issues arising in the branch.
